"I am proud to chair the GBNP Foundation Development
Committee. It is a challenging opportunity to make a significant
contribution to the future of the Park, and to enriching the lives
of the many thousands of our citizens who visit here each year.
One of the Committee's main responsibilities is fundraising. Previously,
we had depended on government agencies to provide for myriad needs.
But because we have committed to some long-needed Park amenities,
which will make the GBNP experience that much more enjoyable for
our guests, we have decided to ask our many friends for their
support. I hope we can count on your generosity to help make the
Park everything it can be - for everyone. Thank you in advance."
Bonnie Bryan, Honorary Chair
GBNP Foundation Development Committee
The Great Basin National Park Foundation has committed to some
ambitious projects for the Park, improvements that will enhance
its value for those who visit, study or work there. Among those
projects is a $4 million Visitor & Education Center, which is
being developed.
The park was established in 1986 and completed its General Management
Plan in 1993 in an era of necessary government budget reductions.
The ambitious park plan includes development of a major visitor
center, trail rehabilitation and development, a new campground,
new exhibits, resource management and protection, education programs,
research facilities, among others.
One of the purposes of this web site is to improve that funding
process by appealing directly to our friends for their support.
You can help by giving generously to the Great Basin National Park
Foundation. Your gift will help thousands enjoy an exciting and
beautiful American birthright for many years to come. Nearly 100,000
people visit the Park each year.
